It was my birthday last week and I thought, what better way to celebrate, than enjoying a delicious Afternoon Tea at the gorgeous Chesterfield Mayfair in London.
What I absolutely loved about this Afternoon Tea, was the fantastic Charlie and The Chesterfield theme. The delicious goodies are inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, making it a heavenly feast of sweet and savoury delights.
After we were shown to our table, we were given a popping candy drink in a glass bottle, complete with a stripy straw. A fun way to begin our tasty treats.
After our sweet, scrummy drink, we were presented with delicate finger sandwiches, all with delicious fillings, including roast chicken with grain mustard mayonnaise and nibbed almonds on white bread, honey roast ham with cheddar cheese and tomato chutney on onion bread and Scottish smoked salmon with cream cheese on brown bread. The second tier was home to the fruit and chocolate scones, served with Cornish clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam and the top tier consisted of a magical plate of delightful Wonka goodies, including an Oompa Loompa cupcake, a blueberry macaron and a golden egg.
There were so many different kinds of loose leaf teas to choose from, we were spoilt for choice. I opted for the specially blended chocolate tea to accompany my gorgeous food, which was beautifully refreshing and so delicious. My hubby decided to try the organic Dragon Well green tea, which was equally refreshing.
The Chesterfield Mayfair also offer a vegetarian and gluten-free menu, as well as a Little Oompa Loompa children’s menu and if you want to be even more spoiled, you can opt for the Champagne Afternoon Tea menu.
When we had finished devouring all the scrumptious treats, we rounded off our meal with a never ending gobstopper. We also got to choose a gold envelope, one of which contained a golden ticket, however our excitement will have to wait, as we can’t open the envelope until our return visit to The Chesterfield Mayfair.
This was a superb way to celebrate my birthday, in a traditional and beautiful setting. I can’t wait to book my next Afternoon Tea here and enjoy all the mouth-watering treats and eventually find out what’s inside the golden envelope!
