Icebar London Rocks

Several weeks ago, my hubby and I decided that after a day out shopping in the capital, we would round our Saturday evening off with a cold, but extremely fun experience at Icebar London.

We booked our 40 minute time slot online a couple of days before we went and we were told to arrive 15 minutes prior to our chosen time, so we could collect our vouchers for a free cocktail and adorn the winter capes and gloves, ready for our sub-zero experience.

Communication was excellent at Icebar London, as shortly before our visit we received a text message to remind us of our time slot and when to arrive. To say I was excited was an understatement! I couldn’t wait to get there.

When we arrived we were given our free cocktail vouchers, which were to be used inside the actual ice bar and we then waited in the warm bar area, ready to go through when it was our turn.

I must admit, I was quite nervous as I didn’t quite know what to expect, or how cold it would actually be. When our time finally came, we lined up with everyone else in the same time slot as us and the staff, in turn, put a thermal cape over each of us, with attached gloves. Once we were all ready, they opened the freezer-like door and we all ventured into the -5°C temperature.

I have to say we thought it was amazing and rather exciting. The room wasn’t very big, but big enough to walk around freely and the temperature was manageable for a while. I would definitely say that 40 minutes was the right amount of time standing in the cold atmosphere.

Every year, Icebar London changes the theme. It was Icebar London Rocks when we went and the ice carvings were beautifully sculptured to represent a rock theme. Everything was made of ice, including the tables, walls and bar with a blue light that surrounded everything, making the atmosphere seem even colder. We ordered our rock anthem named cocktails straight away, which came in our very own ice glass and they were absolutely delicious, even if the glass was freezing to drink from.

Before we knew it, our time was up and we vacated the ice bar with a feeling of satisfaction and fulfilment of having had a great evening. After handing our capes and gloves back in, we left happy and contented, but ready to enjoy warmer temperatures and to eventually defrost.

Oooh looks amazing… but chilly! I’m going to the one in Amsterdam soon, hopefully it’s as good as the London one 🙂
