Opening its glamorous doors in 1908 and steeped in magnificent history, The Waldorf Hilton oozes pure luxury, with a side serving of decadence.
Traditional charm, style and elegance are all synonymous with The Waldorf and being part of this iconic building, even for just one evening, was a lovely experience to have. Located right in the heart of Theatreland, this grade 11 listed building is positioned perfectly if you fancy catching a show or for taking in the many other local attractions.
Visualising what life at the hotel was like and the many people that have come through its doors over the years, is simply fascinating. Black and white photographs adorn the walls, crystal chandeliers hang from the ceilings and the beautiful and historic Palm Court, which featured in the 1953 film Titanic, awaits the arrival of elegantly dressed guests for cocktail receptions.
Our evening meal was held in the beautiful Homage restaurant, where Edwardian columns and gilded décor greeted us on our arrival. We were promptly shown to our table and the atmosphere in the restaurant was just fabulous. As we were celebrating my mum’s birthday, we had to start the evening off in style with a nice glass of champagne, I mean, it would be rude not to, we were in The Waldorf after all and oh my goodness, the food was just divine! The mouth-watering menu was superbly presented and tasted out of this world and not forgetting of course, The Waldorf is home to the famous Waldorf Salad!
The Waldorf Hilton Hotel was a lovely place to celebrate my mum’s birthday and the staff were so attentive, making the whole experience extremely special indeed. If you have never experienced the delights of this lovely hotel, you have got to check it out and take it from me, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
