My Top 5 Favourite European Cities

I love going away for weekend getaways and experiencing the different cities that Europe has to offer. I love exploring new surroundings, taking in the cultural attractions and enjoy eating out at different restaurants, trying all the local food and drink. With this in mind, I thought I would put together a list of my top five favourite European cities that I have visited so far and would without a doubt visit again.

 1. Paris

The city of love. I’ve always thought so anyway, with its beautiful architecture, evening walks along the river Seine and the fabulous hotels and cafés, all serving delicious coffee and croissants, you can’t help but get swept away with all the romantic ambience this gorgeous city has to offer. The last time my hubby and I went to Paris, we enjoyed going to the top of the spectacularly lit Eiffel Tower at midnight and were completely amazed with the incredible view of Paris at night, that’s one memory I’ll never forget.

2. Venice

My hubby and I visited Venice last year for a weekend getaway and we absolutely loved it! There was a good selection of restaurants to choose from, with plenty of shops to browse around and of course not forgetting the amazing Gondola ride, which is practically obligatory when you come to Venice! We also hopped on a ferry and visited the gorgeous islands of Murano and Burano, which are just so beautiful and an absolute must when staying in Venice.

3. Barcelona

Steeped in culture and history, it’s not difficult to see why Barcelona is on my list. Monuments, museums, restaurants and bars, Barcelona is packed with wall to wall activity and adventure. We’ve been to Barcelona a couple of times and always enjoy walking along La Rambla, a tree-lined promenade in the centre of the city, listening to street musicians and stopping off at different cafés here and there for a delicious cocktail or two. Definitely not to be missed!

4. Prague

I was lucky enough to fly out to Prague just for the day several years ago and it was fantastic! As I was only there for a day, I obviously didn’t get to take in all the sights, but the sights I did see were amazing. We had a delicious meal, enjoyed a lovely stroll, admiring all the cultural attractions and I even did a spot of shopping. This is one place I would love to return to someday, but for definitely longer than a day next time.

5. London

Well I couldn’t compile a top five list without including my home capital, could I! I love London. I love its energy, its diversity, its culture, its history, the food scene, the West End shows, I love just about everything really. We love to spend weekends away in London, seeing a fabulous show, enjoying a delicious Afternoon Tea and staying in a lovely hotel. There is so much to see and do, you’re completely spoilt for choice with all the different attractions and landmarks, I’m already planning our next visit!

So there you have it, a round-up of my favourite city escapes. If you have a favourite city that you’ve visited, please let me know, I’m always on the look out for new places to explore.

I could not agree with you more! Love all of these cities, but would probably have chosen Rome too, as I do have a week spot for that city 🙂
