Whether you’re buying something special for yourself, or purchasing a gift for someone else, getting gorgeous goodies sent to you through the post has got to be one of the most exciting things ever! That wonderful feeling of excitement of having ordered something special and then the sheer joy of when if finally arrives and drops on your door mat, I just love it!
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, one fabulous and unique gift idea is to send a delicious personalised cake to your loved one through the post from the lovely people at bakerdays. This fabulous cake company creates an array of different designed cakes and one of their specialities is their ever popular letterbox gift cakes. At 5″ in diameter, these letterbox cakes are designed to fit perfectly through a standard size letterbox, making it a very special gift to send to someone you care about. Having a cake posted right through your very own letterbox, really doesn’t get more special than that!
I was lucky enough to review a bakerdays cake a year or so ago and the feeling of pure joy and excitement when it arrived was so good, I was like a Cheshire cat, grinning from ear to ear. So, when the opportunity arose again to review another one of their fabulous letterbox cakes, I literally jumped at the chance. I mean, who’s going to refuse a job like that? Not me, that’s for sure.
The previous cake I received was for a review of one of their Christmas designs, which I chose myself and I also opted for the cake to be personalised with all of our names. This looked absolutely amazing and was a huge hit with all the family. This time, I have been lucky enough to have been sent a Mother’s Day cake to review. Like before, I chose which design I wanted and then had the cake personalised with Happy Mother’s Day. Once I had chosen which design and personalisation I wanted, I received a lovely email back explaining that everything was in order and that I would receive the cake fairly shortly. True to their word, bakerdays quickly processed my order and I received my special cake a couple of days later.
Well, I can tell you, I wasn’t any less excited this time when I received my gorgeous cake and I couldn’t wait to open my special delivery. Inside the bakerdays box, along with the cake tin, I was also sent a lovely gift card with the word enjoy inscribed inside and some extra goodies of balloons, candles and a blowout, perfect for any party celebration.
The design that I chose was the red watercolour heart cake and I absolutely loved it! The colours on the cake were lovely and vibrant and really stood out against the brilliant white icing. I also opted for the traditional sponge cake with jam and buttercream and it tasted so delicious.
Although this is a fairly small cake, we found that between the four of us we had a decent sized amount each. Any mum would be ecstatic to receive one of these lovely cakes, I know I was, making their special day even more special indeed.
