Two of my very favourite things to do are exploring the wonderful sights of London and indulging in a delicious Afternoon Tea and last weekend I actually experienced both, at exactly the same time!
To celebrate our friend’s special birthday, a group of us decided to have a girly day in London and enjoy all the sights and sounds this amazing city has to offer, so when we discovered that there was a company offering Afternoon Tea whilst on a bus tour of London, we couldn’t wait to get our tickets booked!
B-Bakery specialises in Afternoon Tea with a French twist – L’Afternoon Tea and can be found in the gorgeous cities of London and Bath. What makes B Bakery so special is the fact that not only can you enjoy the delicious cakes and pastries in the glamorous Tea Salons, you can also enjoy the experience in other rather unique ways, such as B Afternoon Tea Bus Tour, B Afternoon Tea Boat Tour on the River Thames, B Afternoon Tea Delivery to your work or home or B Afternoon Tea Picnic if you fancy dining in the park. So, whatever you’re doing and wherever you are, you can still enjoy the Afternoon Tea experience.
We booked the B Afternoon Tea Bus Tour and let me tell you, what a fabulous and unique experience it was for us all! There were different times available and we had booked two tables for the 12:00 tour, which picked us up at Victoria Coach Station. Well, it wasn’t just an ordinary bus that picked us up, it was a vintage London Routemaster and boy did it look the part. The outside décor of the bus looked amazing with all the fabulous images displayed across the side, it really did look very special indeed. Our tables were on the top deck and the inside décor was just as amazing as the outside. Fairy lights glowed around the ceiling and each table was perfectly set out with an assortment of mouth-watering sandwiches, cakes and pastries. After taking many photos, we eventually took our seats and the lovely staff explained a few things before we set off.
Once on the move, there was a recorded guide-commentary pointing out many of the famous landmarks, including Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The Royal Albert Hall and Downing Street, all while we were tucking into the delicious food. The menu changes from time to time, but on our journey, we had goodies such as BLT sandwich, salmon blinis, chestnut mushroom quiche and a selection of finger sandwiches, followed by dark chocolate cupcakes, blackcurrant & vanilla choux (my absolute favourite), coconut mousse with raspberry shortbread biscuits and passion fruit curd & mango white chocolate tarts. Well, just when we thought we couldn’t eat anymore, warm scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream were brought to our table, so obviously we had to eat those as well!
There was also a selection of hot drinks available, including an assortment of teas, such as English Breakfast (my particular favourite), Earl Grey and Darjeeling, a choice of three different coffees, or if you preferred, you could choose a delicious Hot Chocolate and they were all served in cute B-Bakery travel mugs, which were gifted to us at the end. One thing I will mention, is that as you are on a bus, the seating arrangements can feel a little snug, so just something to bear in mind when booking a table for four.
This London sightseeing tour lasted for around 1 hour and 30 minutes and we loved it so much, we didn’t want the journey to end. I would totally recommend this unique and fabulous experience. Enjoying an Afternoon Tea around the heart of the capital, it really doesn’t get much better than that!
